|Gerri has been in the financial services field since 1983 graduating with a bachelors’ degree in Accounting from Binghamton University. She immediately started working in the area of income taxation and continues to prepare taxes for clients today.
During 1989 she obtained the certification of Enrolled Agent (EA) by passing a four part test on personal and business income taxation. This allows her to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service. To maintain the EA certification she must take a minimum of seventy-two continuing education credits every three years.
In 1997 she became a Certified Financial Planner™, otherwise referred to as CFP®. To obtain the CFP® she was required to pass a series of tests involving several areas of personal finance. To maintain the CFP® certification she must have a minimum of thirty continuing education credits every two years.
In 2005 she opened her own tax preparation and financial services businesses which has evolved today to be Planning with Purpose.
|Jen has been in the accounting and tax field since 2010. She graduated with an associate’s degree in Business Management from Axia College and went on to obtain an associate’s degree in Accounting from Elmira Business Institute.Before working with Gerri she worked for a large corporation for twelve years. She began as an Administrative Assistant and worked her way to Executive Administrative Assistant and then Engineering Planner. These positions gave her the opportunities to begin working with financial data and eventually lead her to transition into the accounting field.
These skills allow Jen to assist clients with budgeting personal and business expenses. Looking at the future tax implications for each client helps clients plan. People work hard to earn money and it is our responsibility to help them keep as much as possible of that hard earned money.
Jen completed the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation with the Internal Revenue Service. This allows her to practice before the IRS on behalf of our clients as well as working with the IRS if clients are audited. With the EA designation seventy-two credits of continuing education are required in order to maintain this designation and stay up to date on tax law changes.
Jen is now part-owner in the new Planning with Purpose entity.
