Borrowing money these days is said to be cheap in this low interest rate environment. When is it a good idea to borrow versus taking money from investments? Are the “no interest” loans for 12, 24 months or longer a good idea? Is leasing a car a good idea? Should you only borrow against your house? What about using a 401(k) loan? Student loans, consolidation loans, home equity loans, personal loans, store credit cards, life insurance loans – are any of them a good idea? Can lending money to your children be a good investment?
